Here’s how to make Neon shades work for you!

I’ve been carefully watching the latest beauty trends over the last few weeks and guess what? Bright, neon shades are so NOW!
The sun is shining and with summer just around the corner, things are equally heating up on makeup counters everywhere, as bright, in-your-face colours make a splash on the stands. Think corals, yellows, oranges and shocking pinks.
These colours aren’t as scary as you think and there are loads of ways you can update your look without looking as if you had been scribbled on by a toddler! The trick with carrying off bright colours is all in the detail. You can’t do messy or ‘lived in’ since mistakes show up quickly.

And, since bright colours highlight flaws in your skin quickly, ensure you apply your foundation with a brush for a perfect, even coverage. Use face powder to set your face and concealor where you need it most – under the eyes and in the inner corners of the eyes.
Neon shades are all about perfect application and ensuring that you accentuate one part of your face more than the other. Fuchsia shades are beautiful and can look elegant on your lips – just make sure you use a fine lip brush to outline your lips and fill in carefully with a block shade of colour. Blot with a tissue and re-apply.

Keep the rest of your face minimal – so eyes could do with a lick of mascara and dark brown or black eyeliner. Skip the blush or use a very muted peach shade with the lightest of touches. Keep hair off your face for a more sophisticated look.

If you can’t bear the thought of neon lips, you can switch to a sheer lipgloss instead. It’s a great way to update your style without going full on. Team sheer lips with neon eyes – again, keep it minimal. I suggest using a bright shade which contrasts your eyes and applying a very fine light wash across your eyelids. If you feel a little braver, you can intensify the colour by building it up in layers.

Whichever look you decide to go for, don’t overdo it – either highlight your eyes or your lips, but not both or you’ll end up looking like a clown!

This Weeks Beauty Tip:

For smooth colour on your lips, exfoliate your lips by gently rubbing in some petroleum jelly and then buffing your lips with a textured washcloth or a soft bristle toothbrush. This will flake off dead skin cells and provide a smooth base for your lipstick. Remember to apply a moisturizing lip balm to your lips afterwards and wait 10 minutes before applying your lip colour.

Afterthought:
To work this look, you need to get your application techniques spot on to ensure a perfect finish. The most expensive products will be wasted if you don’t know how to apply your makeup properly. The Event Makeup Artist will show you exactly how to apply your makeup like a pro.
Go to www.theeventmakeupartist.com and learn the tricks of the pro’s by getting your application spot on each time.
Until next time,

Stay Beautiful!
